Football’s biggest stars and emerging contenders are set to clash at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, with 24 teams now confirmed for the tournament. The thrilling qualifiers concluded with established powerhouses like Morocco, Senegal, and Nigeria securing their spots, while new teams such as Botswana and Zimbabwe made dramatic entries. The final day of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 qualifiers brought an unforgettable mix of drama and excitement, as the list of 24 teams heading to the tournament was finalised. With the competition set to be held from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, the stakes were high, and the results did not disappoint.

The last round of qualifiers saw several of Africa’s top footballing nations secure their spots, including Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Nigeria, and Algeria. The tournament will feature the continent’s top 10 teams, according to FIFA rankings, ensuring a showcase of Africa’s finest talent. “We are ready to compete with the best,” said Morocco’s head coach, reflecting the team’s anticipation as the host nation.

Former champions like Cameroon, Nigeria, Tunisia, Zambia, and South Africa all stamped their tickets to Morocco in style, making sure some of Africa’s most iconic teams will be part of the competition. Meanwhile, Botswana made a dramatic late push, clinching a spot after their crucial 1-1 draw with Egypt, securing a place they were not expected to attain. “It was a battle to the end, and we’re proud to be part of it,” said Botswana’s manager.

In a thrilling turn of events, Zimbabwe, who hadn’t qualified since 2021, finished second in Group J behind Cameroon, earning their place in the tournament. Comoros, a team known for their resilience, also made the cut after impressing at the 2021 edition in Cameroon.

The 2025 edition marks the return of several nations to the continental showpiece. Benin, Botswana, Gabon, Uganda, and Sudan, after long absences, will all compete for a spot at the top. This edition promises to be one of the most thrilling in history, as a mix of seasoned powerhouses and emerging teams all look to make their mark on African football’s grandest stage.
