Former Chieftain In Edo Dumps APC Ahead Of Governorship Election

In a shocking move, Emmanuel Agbaje, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former lawmaker representing Akoko-Edo II, has defected from the party just 19 days before the September 21 governorship election.

In a letter to his Ward 10 chairman in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Agbaje cited “deliberate alienation and sidelining of core party faithful and leaders” as reasons for his departure.

He stated, “This decision has not been taken lightly, but after careful consideration and consultation with my support base and leaders, I believe it is the best course of action for me at this time.”

Agbaje’s defection comes after he was allegedly denied entitlements as a lawmaker and excluded from the APC governorship campaign council. His exit is seen as a significant blow to the party ahead of the election.
