Former NIMASA Director General, Ferdinand Agu, Passes Away

Ferdinand Agu, who previously held the esteemed position of Director General at the National Maritime Authority (NMA), which has since been rebranded to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has tragically passed away.

Just yesterday, Agu was present at a traditional wedding in Abuja, staying until around 9 pm, only to suffer a fatal heart attack the following morning.

An acquainted source shared their sorrow with the media, stating, “It is true. This is heartbreaking news. I had a conversation with him yesterday; he was in good spirits, and we even shared a few jokes. And now, to face this reality… I’ve just returned from the hospital where his body has been moved to the mortuary. It really puts the fragility of life into perspective.”

Agu, honored as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (MFR), boasted a background in Architecture and held substantial boardroom experience across the private sector. He was also a sought-after consultant for numerous multinational companies.

His expertise was recognized at the national level when he was appointed Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan from 2011 to 2015.
