The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command was fully, represented, at the maiden International Security Conference of the Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies of Nigeria ( ICSSN ), under the leadership of the Chairman, Governing Council of ICSS and former Commandant General, NSCDC, Dr Ade Abolurin, Dfcss, OFR, psc ( + ), rtd, held today, Thursday, 21st November, 2024, at the Afe Babalola Hall, University of Lagos.

The Keynote address of the conference, with the theme; “Harmony in Security: Bridging the Gap between Theory and Practice,” was delivered, by the erudite Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, Adegoke Fayoade, Dfcss, mni. Amongst many solutions the AIG shares include; security agencies having good and effective private partnership and collaborations with the corporate world, towards creating solutions that will solve security imbroglio in the country amongst many others just to mention a few.

The Special Guest of Honour of the Conference was Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, DFCSS, FCA, OON. Other distinguished guests include; Assistant Inspector General of Police , Zone 2 , Adegoke Fayoade, Dfcss, mni, Professor Folashade Ogunsola, first female Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Emeritus Professor Omololu Soyombo ( awardee ), Dfcss, Professor Nojimu Amusa, Vice Chairman ICSS, Professor Adeyinka Aderinto ( awardee ), Professor Adewunmi Falode, Professor Adedeji Oyenuga, Local Organizing Committee Chairman, Dr Adekunle Aderemi, Director General ICSS, Dr Wale Amusa, Registrar ICSS, amongst many others .

The conference also had some distinguished guests, inducted and awarded today and they include; AIG Adegoke Fayoade, Dfcss, mni, who was decorated as a distinguished fellow member of the Institute, by Dr Ade Abolurin, who also gave a welcome speech centered around the issues of collaboration and bridge building amongst the security architecture of our dear nation.

The NSCDC, Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro affirmed that international security conferences like this can not be overemphasized and should come at no other better time than now, when the troubled spots in our nation truly, requires peace, tranquility and safety in order for businesses to continue to thrive and for people to live their normal lives, without fear of intimidation or harassment of any sort.

The security services such as the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police Force, Nigeria Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State Security, Federal Fire Service, NSCDC and others were also well represented at the event .
