JUST IN: Devastating Accident Claims 18 Lives at Police Checkpoint in Abia

A catastrophic incident on the Umuahia-Enugu portion of the Port Harcourt-Enugu Highway resulted in the deaths of 18 individuals earlier today.

Reports indicate that the distressing event took place near a police checkpoint located by Lokpanta in Abia State during the early morning hours.

A commercial bus with seating for 18 was stopped at the checkpoint when a trailer driver, reportedly losing control of the vehicle, collided into the stationary bus, resulting in the tragic death of the bus driver and all the passengers on board.

Eyewitness Bananas Okereke conveyed to the press via telephone that as of 8:20 am, the victims’ bodies were still present at the accident site.

Okereke shared: “The Road is currently obstructed by bus drivers and other vehicle operators protesting the incident, insisting that the police officers responsible for the oversight be summoned back to the scene.”

“Fellow bus drivers and road users have taken control of the road, seeking justice for those who lost their lives. They are determined to continue their protest until Governor Alex Otti personally addresses the situation.”
