US Vice President Kamala Harris is set to unveil her economic agenda in a major policy announcement, focusing on tackling price-gouging, the housing shortage, and corporate landlords.
Her plan includes a federal ban on price-gouging, penalties for food companies that unfairly increase prices, and measures to lower housing costs for working families.
Harris’s economic proposal comes as she faces increasing pressure to articulate her policy vision ahead of the Democratic National Convention.
Her plan adopts much of President Joe Biden’s economic agenda, including eradicating “junk fees,” reducing prescription drug prices, and keeping the no-tax-hikes pledge for those making under $400,000.
The vice president’s announcement is expected to draw a contrast with Republican rival Donald Trump’s economic vision, which includes tariffs of up to 20% on imports.
Harris’s campaign has emphasized the need for a comprehensive plan to address the housing shortage, with proposals to construct three million new housing units, increase tax incentives for builders, and take on corporate landlords.

As Harris sets out her economic agenda, she faces personal attacks from Trump, who has been unable to stay on message and has devoted much of his attention to personal insults.
Despite this, Harris remains focused on articulating her policy vision and accumulating political capital ahead of the November 5 election.
