Lagos Buttock-Enlargement Surgeon Under Arrest Due To Client’s Death

In a shocking turn of events, a Lagos-based doctor, Idara Bassey, has been taken into police custody following the tragic death of a 36-year-old woman, Abiola, who succumbed to complications during a buttock enlargement surgery at her clinic.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, “the doctor is now with the SCID” and is being investigated in connection with Abiola’s death.

The incident occurred on August 26, 2024, when Abiola visited the clinic for the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure, which involves transferring fat from other parts of the body to the buttocks.

Tragically, the procedure went awry after a nurse, allegedly acting under Bassey’s instructions, administered an injection that led to Abiola’s demise.

The driver who brought Abiola to the clinic recounted the horrific scene, saying, “she lost consciousness and began gasping for breath” shortly after the injection.

Hundeyin confirmed that the nurse who administered the injection had been arrested earlier, and Bassey became a suspect after she went into hiding.

When asked about potential charges, Hundeyin stated, “answers to these questions would be provided after the investigation.”

This devastating incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with cosmetic surgery, particularly procedures like the Brazilian Butt Lift, which have been warned against by medical experts due to their potential complications.
