In a bold and decisive move, the Lagos State Government (LASG) has launched a comprehensive crackdown on businesses violating environmental regulations, shutting down multiple establishments in the Ikorodu area for flagrant disregard of noise and air pollution laws.
This drastic action comes on the heels of a thorough enforcement operation conducted across major areas of the state, including Agric, Ibeshe, and Ikorodu, aimed at tackling the scourge of environmental degradation.
According to Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, “The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has been left with no choice but to take drastic measures against these recalcitrant businesses, which have consistently flouted warnings and directives to comply with environmental regulations.”
The affected businesses, including Victory Hotel, Wendy Bar, Moore Gas Plant, Provider Farm and Poultry, Cloud 24, Little Palace Hotel, City Groove Lounge and Bar, Destiny Castle, and B.S. Gold Warehouse, were found to be in gross violation of environmental laws, necessitating their temporary closure.

LASEPA has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to creating a sustainable and harmonious environment for the citizens of Lagos, emphasizing the imperative need for businesses to adhere to environmental regulations.
“As a government, we are resolute in our determination to rigorously enforce state environmental laws, ensuring compliance and achieving a clean and sustainable environment befitting Lagos State’s status as the nation’s Centre of Excellence,” Wahab stated.
This crackdown serves as a stern warning to other businesses operating in the state, signaling the government’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental violations.
