Malawi To Partner German Experts Over Investigation Of Vice President Death In Plane Crash

Malawi has initiated an inquiry into the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of Vice President Saulos Chilima and nine others on June 10.

In a bid to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident, German experts have been invited to scrutinize various aspects of the Dornier 228 aircraft crash, including the aircraft’s condition.

President Lazarus Chakwera’s call for foreign assistance in the investigation, conducted in collaboration with the Malawian Defense Force, aims to ensure the credibility of the probe.

The crash has stirred up conspiracy theories in the East African nation, with allegations of an assassination plot raised by some individuals, including a lawmaker and a rights activist.

The investigative team comprises two experts from the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation and one from General Atomics.
