Minister Warns Against Impersonation Scam

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, issued a warning to Nigerians on Wednesday regarding an individual impersonating him through a phone number on WhatsApp.

In a statement released by Segun Tomori, the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, it was clarified that Dr. Alake has no association with the phone number being exploited for fraudulent activities on the platform.

Dr. Alake’s attention was drawn to a scammer using the contact number +234 707 743 7582, falsely portraying himself as the minister on WhatsApp. The individual behind this deception, bearing Dr. Alake’s image, is not linked to the minister, his team, or any personnel in his office.

The Minister emphasized that this is the work of an impostor and urged the public to disregard any messages or interactions purportedly coming from him through the mentioned contact number.

Furthermore, the Minister urged Nigerians to ignore any communication from the fraudulent number, assuring that the issue has been reported to security authorities for the apprehension of the perpetrator.
