NCC: Nigerians Consume Over 870 Million Gigabytes of Data in October

Nigerians are consuming more internet data than ever, with usage climbing to 870,398 terabytes in October. This marked a significant recovery after September’s dip to 850,249 terabytes, the first decline since February 2024.

The figures, released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), highlight a 2.37% increase in October’s usage. In simpler terms, Nigerians used over 870 million gigabytes of data last month, a testament to the growing demand for internet services.

“This surge reflects the resilience of Nigeria’s digital ecosystem,” said a spokesperson for the NCC. “It’s clear that internet connectivity is becoming more essential to everyday life.”

September’s 0.82% decline, attributed to market fluctuations and reduced data plans, was short-lived. The October rebound underscores the critical role of internet access in driving productivity, entertainment, and education.

The NCC continues to advocate for policies supporting affordable data and improved connectivity, ensuring more Nigerians can access the benefits of the digital age.
