Nigeria Launches Crude Oil Grade To Enhance Global Market

Nigeria has successfully launched a new crude oil grade, Utapate, boasting an exceptionally low sulfur content, produced in the heart of Akwa Ibom State.

This innovative development is poised to disrupt the global energy landscape, as the first shipment of Utapate crude oil has already set sail for Europe, with Spain emerging as the inaugural customer.

The Utapate crude oil grade is a testament to Nigeria’s commitment to producing high-quality oil that meets the evolving needs of the global market.

With its remarkably low sulfur content of 0.0655%, this new grade is perfectly suited for producing cleaner fuels, aligning with the growing demand for environmentally friendly energy solutions.

NNPC Limited, the state-owned oil company, has announced plans to ramp up production of Utapate crude oil to an impressive 50,000 barrels per day, positioning Nigeria as a key player in the global energy market.

This strategic move is expected to attract major European buyers, who are increasingly seeking out low-sulfur oil grades to comply with stringent environmental regulations.

The successful launch of Utapate crude oil is a significant milestone for Nigeria, marking a major breakthrough in its efforts to diversify its oil production and increase its global market share.

As the country continues to explore new frontiers in the energy sector, the introduction of Utapate crude oil is poised to make a lasting impact on the global energy landscape.
