Nigeria’s Oluwafemiayo Breaks World Record, Wins Gold At Paralympics

In a remarkable display of strength, determination, and unwavering spirit, Nigerian powerlifter Folashade Oluwafemiayo has etched her name in the annals of history, breaking the world record in the women’s over 86kg category at the 2024 Paralympics Games in Paris, France.

With a staggering lift of 167kg, Oluwafemiayo not only secured the gold medal but also set an Elite World Record, cementing her position as a trailblazer in the world of para-powerlifting.
“Folashade not only set a Paralympics record by lifting 167kg, but she also set an Elite World Record.

She served as the Captain for Team Nigeria’s contingent at the Paris 2024 Paralympics Games, demonstrating great skill, determination, and an excellent spirit,” said Minister of Sports, John Enoh, in a statement.
