NNPCL To Become Sole Buyer Of Petrol Production From Dangote Refinery

In a significant milestone, Dangote Refinery has commenced production of premium motor spirit, also known as petrol, with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) poised to become its exclusive buyer. This development marks a major breakthrough in Nigeria’s quest for energy self-sufficiency.

According to Reuters, the refinery, with a production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, is nearing the end of its testing phase and will begin supplying petrol in the coming weeks.

Devakumar Edwin, Vice President at Dangote Industries Limited, confirmed that NNPCL is ready to purchase the refinery’s products exclusively to meet local demands.

This partnership is expected to alleviate the country’s fuel scarcity woes and boost economic growth.

However, it also raises questions about the potential impact on competition and prices in the market.

As the refinery begins its operations, all eyes will be on the NNPCL to ensure a smooth and transparent distribution process.
