NSE  Urges FG  To Support Members With Tools, Opportunities For Success

Federal Government has been urged to support in providing Nigerian engineers with the tools and opportunities needed for success.

President Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala who made the call during the 8th annual distinguished lecture in honour of Engr. Brig. Gen. M.O. Agu, which held under the theme: “Nigeria’s 21 Years in Space (2003 – 2024): Achievements, Challenges, and Prospects,”, also called for the empowerment of local talent which would lead to national and global space initiatives.

While stressing the need for reduction in dependence of foreign experts, the NSE boss praised Nigeria’s significant strides in space technology over the past two decades.

Also she acknowledged the critical role of Nigerian engineers and scientists in launching satellites and collaborating with international space agencies.

Engr. Oguntala emphasised the need for the next two decades to focus on deeper participation in advanced space exploration and innovation, pushing beyond satellite launches.

The lecture was organised by the Nigerian Institution of Space Engineers (NISE) and the lecturer was delivered by Prof. Rabiu Babatunde.

Distinguished guests, including former President Engr. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Senator Prof. Ajayi R. Boroffice, and the Director-General/CEO of NASRDA, Dr. Matthew Adepoju.

Each speaker delivered remarks celebrating Nigeria’s achievements in space technology while envisioning future advancements.

It is worthy to note  that this  year’s distinguished lecture served as a platform for reflecting on Nigeria’s 21-year journey in space exploration, while also inspiring the next generation of engineers to contribute to the country’s future successes on the global stage.
