Ogun State Sets Nov. 16 For Local Government Election

Ogun State is preparing for its upcoming local government elections, scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

This announcement was made by Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, in a statement released to journalists in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

As the state prepares for the elections, guidelines for conducting the polls and a stakeholders’ meeting are set to be released on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

This will be followed by the commencement of political party campaigns on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Additionally, party primaries are slated to take place between Monday, August 26, and Monday, September 9, 2024.

It is worth noting that the Ogun State government had previously debunked a false statement circulating on social media, which claimed that the local government elections would take place on October 26, 2024.

The tenure of the previously elected local government officials came to an end about a week ago, paving the way for the upcoming elections.

The November 16, 2024, polls are highly anticipated, and the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission is taking necessary steps to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.

With the release of guidelines and the commencement of party campaigns, the stage is set for a vibrant and competitive electoral contest.
