Oyo Govt. To Celebrate Isese On 20th August

In a move to celebrate and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde has declared August 20 a work-free day to mark the 2024 Isese Day.

This declaration is in line with the governor’s commitment to promoting traditional practices and unity among citizens.

The announcement was made through a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor (Media), Sulaimon Olanrewaju, who referenced a circular issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Olanike Adeyemo.

The circular emphasized the significance of Isese Day and the need for citizens to come together to observe the day with prayers and festivities.

Governor Makinde had last year declared every August 20 as a work-free day to commemorate Isese Day, a tradition that is deeply rooted in the state’s cultural identity.

This year’s celebration promises to be a grand event, with traditional worshippers and citizens expected to gather at various locations across the state to mark the occasion.

The governor’s decision to declare a work-free day on Isese Day is a testament to his administration’s commitment to promoting cultural diversity and unity.

By setting aside a day to honor ancient traditions, the government aims to foster a sense of belonging and shared identity among citizens.

As the state prepares to celebrate Isese Day, citizens are encouraged to use the opportunity to pray for peace, unity, and stability in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.

The event promises to be a colorful and vibrant celebration of the state’s rich cultural heritage, and one that will be remembered for years to come.
