Presidency Debunks Report Of Tinubu Slashing His Salary By 50%, Abolishing Office Of First Lady

The Nigerian presidency has dismissed a report claiming that President Bola Tinubu has reduced his salary by 50% and abolished the office of the first lady.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, described the report as “totally false” and the work of “mischief makers” seeking to create confusion and chaos.

Onanuga emphasized that President Tinubu has not made any broadcast regarding the alleged salary cut and scrapping of the first lady’s office.

The presidency’s response comes amidst plans for a nationwide hunger and hardship protest, scheduled for August 1-10, 2024, to draw attention to the country’s economic challenges.

The report’s dismissal aims to alleviate concerns and prevent the spread of misinformation, ensuring that Nigerians remain informed and focused on addressing the nation’s pressing issues.
