In a significant move towards forming a new broad-based Cabinet, President William Ruto has nominated 11 individuals, including 5 new faces and 6 retained Cabinet Secretaries from his initial team.
The nominees will be considered and approved by the National Assembly.
The new faces include Dr. Debra Mulongo Barasa (Health), Mr. Julius Migosi Ogamba (Education), Dr. Andrew Mwihia Karanja (Agriculture and Livestock Development), Mr. Eric Muriithi Muuga (Water, Sanitation and Irrigation), and Ms. Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u (Information, Communication and Digital Economy).
Speaking at a press conference, President Ruto emphasized the need for a broad-based government to drive national transformation and inclusive growth.

He highlighted the importance of unlocking the potential of citizens from all sectors to address the country’s challenges, including food production, job creation, public debt, and transparent use of public resources.
The President also acknowledged the recent national conversation on governance, development, and economic management, stating that the government must take measures to affirm its commitment to actualizing the people’s aspirations and assure citizens that the State exists to serve them.
By constituting a more inclusive government, President Ruto aims to harness the enormous potential in Kenya and boost economic transformation and inclusive growth.
He emphasized that the opportunity before the nation is greater than the crisis, and together, Kenyans can take their country where they all want it to be and make their nation the Kenya they all want, a great nation.
