President Tinubu Presides Over 18th FEC Meeting In Abuja

President Bola Tinubu is currently presiding over the 18th Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Aso Chambers of the State House in Abuja. This pivotal gathering marks the first in six weeks, following the President’s extensive foreign engagements in Equatorial Guinea, China, and the United Kingdom.

Twenty-one members of the 47-member cabinet are in attendance, including Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. Other prominent ministers present include those of Finance, Agriculture, Budget, Aviation, Education, and Information.

The meeting commenced with a poignant tribute to late former Minister of Women and Youth Development, Salome Jankada, who passed away on August 27, 2024. The council observed a minute of silence in her honor, acknowledging her contributions to Nigeria’s development.

While the agenda remains undisclosed, insiders hint at a comprehensive discussion on project approvals across various ministries. This meeting is critical in shaping Nigeria’s economic and social landscape.

Vice President Kashim Shettima’s absence is notable, as he leads Nigeria’s delegation to the United Nations General Assembly in New York. His presence at the UNGA underscores Nigeria’s commitment to global cooperation and sustainable development.

As President Tinubu steers the FEC meeting, Nigerians eagerly await key decisions that will impact the nation’s future. With economic growth, security, and infrastructure development topping the agenda, this gathering is poised to shape Nigeria’s trajectory.
