President Tinubu Signs Judicial Officers Bill Into Law

In a historic move, President Bola Tinubu has signed the Judicial Office Holders Salaries and Allowances Bill into law, granting a 300% salary increase for judicial officers at the federal and state levels.

This significant development underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Nigerian workers, particularly those serving in vital roles.

The new Act prescribes improved salaries, allowances, and fringe benefits for judicial officers, reflecting the changing realities and amending the provisions of the Certain Political, Public, and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) Act, No.6, 2002 (as amended).

Key highlights of the Act include:

  • Prescription of salaries, allowances, and benefits for Judicial Officers.
  • Amendment of the Certain Political, Public, and Judicial Office.
  • Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) Act, No.6, 2002 (as amended).

The signing of the bill is a testament to President Tinubu’s dedication to ensuring fair compensation and improved working conditions for Nigerian workers.

The new salary structure includes:

  • Chief Justice of Nigeria: N64m annual salary
  • President of the Court of Appeal: N62.4m
  • Justices of the Supreme Court: N61.4m each.
  • Heads of various courts: N7.9m basic salary annually.

This landmark decision reinforces the integrity of the justice system and sets a new standard for leadership that values the hard work and sacrifices of Nigerian workers.
