Reelection of Adeyemo Adedeji Owoeye (OVO) as Chairman of UNILAG Alumni Association, Lagos State Branch

I am quite elated that Adeyemo Adedeji Owoeye (OVO) was successfully re-elected as the Chairman of the Prestigious University of Lagos Alumni Association on Sunday 26th January 2kk 2025. This momentous occasion marks a significant milestone in the association’s journey, as Owoeye’s leadership has been instrumental in fostering a vibrant and engaged alumni community.

Under Owoeye’s stewardship, the Lagos State Branch has witnessed some remarkable growth and transformation. His commitment to creating a people-focused association has resonated deeply with members, encouraging active participation and collaboration. Owoeye’s reelection is a testament to the trust and confidence that alumni have in his vision and leadership capabilities.

The importance of having a people-focused association cannot be overstated. In an era where individualism often overshadows community spirit, Owoeye has championed initiatives that prioritize the needs and aspirations of alumni. His leadership style emphasizes inclusivity, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. This approach has not only strengthened the bonds among alumni but has also fostered a sense of belonging and pride in the UNILAG community.

As he begins his second journey of overseeing the Alumni activities in Lagos; he should prioritize community engagement, spearheading various outreach programs that address pressing societal issues. From educational initiatives to health awareness campaigns, through these Initiatives the association can make significant contributions to the local community, reinforcing the idea that alumni can play a pivotal role in driving positive change. This commitment to social responsibility reflects the core values of UNILAG and underscores the importance of giving back to society.

I want to also implore him to outline an ambitious agenda that includes expanding professional development opportunities, enhancing alumni networking events, and strengthening partnerships with the university. His vision for the future should be one where the UNILAG Alumni Association serves as a beacon of support and inspiration for all members, fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual growth.

I passionately believe that we can build an association that not only celebrates our achievements but also addresses the challenges we face as a community. Our strength lies in our unity and commitment towards the objectives of the association.

As we move forward, the elected Executives of UNILAG Alumni Association, Lagos State Branch, should be more dedicated to its mission of fostering a people-focused environment that nurtures talent, promotes collaboration, and drives positive change. I want to appeal that we all should join hands in this journey, as we work together to create a brighter future for our community and beyond.
