Victor Osimhen, the prolific Super Eagles striker, will be conspicuous by his absence in Napoli’s Coppa Italia first-round match against Modena today, as his future with the Italian club remains shrouded in uncertainty.
The 25-year-old goal-machine has been embroiled in a transfer saga that has left his fans and suitors on tenterhooks.
Despite signing a new contract with Napoli in December, which includes a whopping €130m release clause, Osimhen has been the subject of intense speculation, with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea emerging as top contenders for his signature.
However, neither club has been willing to trigger the release clause, with PSG offering a paltry €100m and Chelsea proposing a loan deal that Osimhen has vehemently rejected.

Complicating matters further, Osimhen has refused to consider a pay cut, a stance that has been reinforced by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who stated, “Forget about Victor Osimhen taking a pay cut; he won’t reduce his salary.”
This development has left Chelsea’s pursuit in limbo, as the London club is unwilling to meet the release clause.
As the transfer window enters its final weeks, Osimhen finds himself increasingly isolated from Napoli’s pre-season plans, with his future hanging precariously in the balance.
With limited options, the Nigerian international is now waiting for a renewed offer from PSG or a serious proposal from Saudi Arabia, leaving fans and pundits alike wondering where his future lies.
