TASUED Suspends Exams After Killing Of Final Year Student By Cultists

Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, has indefinitely suspended its ongoing second-semester examinations following a tragic incident in which a final-year student, Olaoye Fabiyi, was killed by suspected cultists on Wednesday.

According to eyewitnesses, Fabiyi was forcefully removed from the examination hall while writing his final papers by unidentified individuals, who dragged him to a secluded area, shot him, and struck him on the head with a brick, ensuring his death before fleeing the scene.

“The university management has directed the suspension of all examinations previously scheduled for Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5, 2024, until further notice,” announced the school’s Deputy Registrar, Babatunde Odugbesan, in a statement released on Thursday.

While assuring students of their safety, the management advised them to remain calm as investigations are ongoing to get to the root of the cultist attack. “Please note and be guided accordingly. Management will issue further notices on the resumption of examinations,” the statement added.

The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the incident and has begun raids on suspected cultist hideouts in the area. “Our officers immediately moved to the scene of the incident. All possible hideouts of the suspects were combed and raided by our detectives, including those from other divisions in the area,” said Omolola Odutola, the command’s spokesperson.

The police are working tirelessly to apprehend all members of the group responsible for the incident, with Odutola assuring that “every effort is being made to ensure that all the perpetrators are apprehended.”
