Tinubu Convenes Council Of States Meeting, Former Presidents In Attendance

In a significant display of unity and cooperation, President Bola Tinubu is currently chairing the inaugural meeting of the Council of State at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, with former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari in attendance.

This gathering marks a crucial milestone in Nigeria’s political landscape, as the Council convenes to address pressing national issues, including the recent #EndBadGovernance protests, economic challenges, food security, and national security.

The meeting, which began at 12:35 pm with an opening ceremony, features a distinguished roster of attendees, including former Heads of State, General Yakubu Gowon and General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who joined virtually, alongside the governors of Abia, Adamawa, and Akwa Ibom State.

According to sources, the Council will discuss seven key issues, including the nationwide protest’s impact on national security and the economy, food security, availability, and affordability, as well as presentations on consolidating gains in the solid minerals sector, budgeting, and planning for sustained development.

The National Council of State, a constitutional organ, plays a vital advisory role in guiding the President on policy-making, national security, appointments, and economic policies.

This meeting underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to collaborative governance and seeking wisdom from experienced leaders to address Nigeria’s challenges.
