WAEC Yet To Decide On Release Date For 2024 SSCE Results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has issued a clarifying statement regarding the highly anticipated release date of the 2024 May/June WASSCE results, putting to rest speculation and misinformation.

According to Moyosola Adesina, WAEC’s Communication Officer, “There is no official date for the release of the 2024 May/June WASSCE results.”

This statement comes as a response to the circulation of an unofficial August 5 release date, which Adesina emphasized is “neither here nor there” and may not be the actual release date.

Adesina further explained that WAEC results are typically released within a specific timeframe, stating, “Our results are usually released on or before 45 days after the conduct of the last paper.”

This provides a general idea of when candidates can expect the results, although the exact date remains uncertain.

The marking exercise for the 2024 WASSCE has been completed, with grading activities and the return of scripts to WAEC offices concluded on Sunday.

This development brings the release of the results one step closer, with Adesina hinting that it could be released “anytime from now, probably in the first weeks of August.”

However, the August 1 protest may impact the release date, and candidates are advised to await further updates from WAEC for the official release date.

As Adesina cautioned, “The person speculated, so it’s neither here nor there. It could be before then or after then, but definitely might not be on that date.”
