Wife Of Detained Binance Executive Pleads For Release As Health Deteriorates

Tigran Gambaryan, a high-ranking executive at the cryptocurrency giant Binance, is facing a medical emergency that threatens to leave him permanently disabled, his wife Yuki has revealed in a heart-wrenching plea to the Federal Government.

Gambaryan, who has been detained since February on allegations of exploiting the Nigerian currency through his platform, requires urgent and highly specialized surgery to address a herniated disc that has worsened dramatically since his incarceration.

Despite repeated requests from his legal team, Gambaryan’s medical records have been withheld, and he has been denied access to necessary care, leaving his life hanging in the balance.

The dire situation has prompted Yuki to issue a desperate appeal for her husband’s release on humanitarian grounds, citing the devastating impact his prolonged detention has had on their family.

Gambaryan’s health woes began with a collapse in court on May 23, 2024, due to his deteriorating condition.

His legal team has since expressed concerns that his life is at risk if he remains in detention without proper medical attention.

A court order on July 16 mandated his transfer to Nizamiye Hospital for medical care under strict security surveillance, but his legal team has been barred from visiting him since July 26, sparking fears about his well-being.

The Binance executive’s condition has deteriorated to the point where he is now wheelchair-bound, a stark contrast to his previously active and healthy lifestyle.

Yuki has painted a stark picture of her husband’s suffering, revealing that he requires highly specialized and risky surgery to address the herniated disc, which threatens to cause permanent damage if left untreated.

Furthermore, an ENT specialist has diagnosed him with recurring tonsillitis, necessitating additional surgery.

The situation has attracted international attention, with American lawmakers urging the US government to declare Gambaryan “wrongfully detained” in Nigeria.

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing Gambaryan with quality medical care and adhering to legal protocols, but Yuki remains concerned about her husband’s fate.

As Gambaryan’s legal battle continues, with court dates set for October 11 and 18, his family’s emotional toll grows.

Yuki has described the situation as “becoming harder every day” for their family, emphasizing the urgent need for her husband’s release to address his medical emergency.
