Nigerian David Sangokoya Becomes First African To Win UK’s Royal Air Force Honour

In a momentous achievement, Nigerian Air Force officer David Sangokoya has etched his name in the annals of history, becoming the first African cadet to receive the coveted International Cadet Sword of Honour from the esteemed Royal Air Force College Cranwell in the United Kingdom.

This prestigious award is a testament to Sangokoya’s exceptional performance as the Best International Cadet on the Modularised Initial Officers’ Training Course 22, which he attended from March to September 2023.

British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, warmly congratulated Sangokoya on his groundbreaking feat. “It was an absolute pleasure to meet Flying Officer Sangokoya and celebrate his remarkable achievement,” Montgomery said. “His dedication and excellence have earned him a place in history, and we are honored to have shared in his journey.”

Sangokoya’s inspirational story serves as a beacon of hope and motivation for aspiring young officers, demonstrating that determination, hard work, and excellence can overcome even the most daunting challenges.
