Nigeria Police Bust Benue Arms Factory, Arrest Cult Hitman in Delta Raid

In a major breakthrough against crime, Nigerian police have dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing operation in Benue State and arrested a suspected cult hitman in Delta State. The move highlights ongoing efforts to curb rising criminal activities across the country.

The arms factory, located in Tse Akamabe, Kwande Local Government Area, was operated by two suspects now in custody. Police said the suspects were producing and distributing illegal firearms, a growing concern in the region.

“The arrests represent a significant step in tackling the proliferation of arms,” said ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer. He urged communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

In Delta State, operatives raided an apartment linked to Prosper Akeni, 32, a member of the notorious Eiye Confraternity. Akeni, allegedly the group’s hitman, was found with multiple firearms and 25 rounds of ammunition. Police confirmed he admitted to holding the weapons for his cult group.

Meanwhile, in Kebbi State, two men have been arrested for separate fatal stabbings. Yunusa Haruna, 25, is accused of killing his elder brother during a domestic dispute in Shanga LGA on December 31. In another case, Abubakar Ummar was apprehended for fatally stabbing Mohammed Bala in Zuru Village on January 8.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun praised the operatives for their swift actions. “These successes underline our commitment to restoring peace nationwide,” he said. He also called on the public to actively support the police with timely information to strengthen community-based policing.

The police reaffirmed their dedication to making Nigeria safer, urging citizens to stay alert and collaborate in the fight against crime.
