SECURITY ISSUES: Nigeria Asks EU for Help with Security Problems

Nigeria is reaching out to the European Union (EU) for more help to deal with its security problems.

At an event in Abuja called the “Road to Schuman Forum on Security and Defence,” put on by the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) and the EU, Nigerian Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru talked about how security issues in one place can affect other countries too.

Dr. Ibrahim Kana, who was there for Badaru, said that Nigeria is facing serious issues like terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping. He asked the EU to give support to help solve these big problems.

Badaru also mentioned that other parts of the world get more help and attention than Nigeria, and he asked for this to be made fair.

He believes that all countries should work together to fight insecurity and that Nigeria is ready to do its part to keep peace in its region and all over Africa.

Major General Adamu Garba Laka from NCTC talked about how important it is for different groups to work together to make sure Nigeria is safe and can grow.

EU’s Ambassador, Samuela Isopi agreed that the meeting was important to look at security in Nigeria and its neighbors. She said having a good plan to work together on security and defence is very important for both Nigeria and the EU.

In conclusion, This meeting was a warm-up for a big security forum happening soon in Brussels, Belgium, where Nigeria will join EU countries and other groups to talk more about these issues.
