Brazil Triumphs as Host of 2027 Women’s World Cup in First-of-its-Kind FIFA Vote

The celebrated hosting baton for the 2027 Women’s World Cup has been passed to Brazil after a decisive vote by FIFA’s 211 member associations, favoring the vibrant South American nation over the European trio of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany.

With a landslide 119-78 vote in the FIFA Congress, this landmark decision marks a new chapter in FIFA’s approach to selecting World Cup hosts, empowering all member associations with a voice in the process, a privilege previously held exclusively by the FIFA Council.

Brazil’s candidacy gained momentum after the United States and Mexico shifted their focus to the 2031 edition, clearing the path for Brazil to showcase its rich football culture and infrastructure which shone through in the technical evaluation report.

This report revealed Brazil as the frontrunner in several critical areas, including existing stadiums, hospitality, fan experiences, and transportation networks.

Eyes now turn towards the upcoming votes scheduled for December 11, which will determine who will be honored with hosting duties for the World Cups in 2030 and 2034.
