LAGOS STATE: Police Confirm Death of Man in Local Beer Parlor

A tragic incident was reported and subsequently confirmed by the Lagos State Police Command involving the death of a man at a beer parlor. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the police force, offered details to the media on Sunday.

The incident was brought to the attention of the police by the beer parlor’s owner and was reported to the Elere Police Division around 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The deceased, said to be a patron in his fifties whose name and address remain unknown, was reported to have entered the establishment located along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway at around 6:15 p.m. to watch television, just as other customers did, some of whom were enjoying their drinks.

Hundeyin shared that the man was found to be unresponsive, with the initial assumption being that he was asleep. Upon realization that he was, in fact, not alive, the beer parlor staff alerted the authorities.

“Detectives from the division responded to the scene and confirmed the individual was deceased, seated in the chair. There were no evident signs of violence observed on the body,” Hundeyin detailed.

In conclusion, Following the assessment, the body was transported to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba, Lagos, for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Concurrently, police efforts to identify and locate the man’s next of kin are underway.
