Labour Unions To Embark On Indefinite Strike Amidst Minimum Wage Dispute

With an unsorted move, the organized labour factions in Nigeria have initiated an indefinite strike action following impassioned disputes with the federal government regarding the minimum wage adjustments.

The government’s steadfast refusal to elevate the minimum wage beyond N60,000 has sparked this unprecedented action.

Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), announced the launch of the strike during a press conference held at Labour House in Abuja. According to Ajaero, this strike, marking a significant standoff in the ongoing wage negotiations, is set to begin at the stroke of midnight on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
