In a move to cushion economic burdens on its workforce, the Lagos State Government has announced the continuation of the Work-From-Home order for civil servants, extending the initiative for an additional three months.
Bode Agoro, the Head of Service, communicated the decision on Friday, marking the start of the extended period on June 3, 2024, which is set to last until September 3, 2024. This extension, stemming from prior measures intended to ease the effects of subsidy removal on civil servants, comes following approval from Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The mandate delineates that the extended work flexibility is not applicable to all; certain groups, such as the staff of the Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), educational professionals in primary and secondary institutions, healthcare workers, clinical staff, allied health professionals involved in clinical activities, as well as the state’s first responders and drivers, are exempt due to their crucial public services and existing work roster arrangements.
Agoro’s statement called upon Accounting Officers to ensure that all involved officers continue to meet their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), therefore sustaining the effective implementation of government policies, particularly those aligned with the THEMES+ Agenda of the present administration. He urged for necessary compliance and service-wide publicity of the circular regarding this policy extension.
