Vice President Urges Nigerian Medics To Shun Medical Flight To Enhance Nations Healthcare Landscape

In an appeal to the healthcare community, Vice President Kashim Shettima has requested Nigerian doctors to remain in the country and work hand in hand with the government to enhance the nation’s healthcare landscape, instead of pursuing careers abroad.

At a recent engagement with the National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), led by its president, Prof. Bala Audu, at Abuja’s Presidential Villa, Vice President Shettima addressed the collective of medical professionals, urging them to stand against the allure of the ‘Japa’ trend – a colloquial term referring to the departure of skilled workers from Nigeria.

Vice President Shettima provided reassurance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to improving the conditions and welfare of the medical workforce, recognizing the hardships faced by those who choose to work within the local healthcare system.

He expressed gratitude towards the medical community for their enduring dedication and the pivotal role they play in sustaining and progressing the nation’s healthcare services.
