JAMB Reveals 3,000 Fraudulent Graduates, Laments Corruption In Education

In a startling expose, the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has brought to light a staggering 3,000 cases of fraudulent graduates, who deceitfully claim to have earned degrees without ever attending a university. This widespread academic fraud perpetuates the “endemic corruption” that undermines the very fabric of Nigeria’s education system.

JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, vehemently condemned the “illegal admissions” perpetuated by some institutions, labeling them a “disservice to the nation” and an “embarrassment” that tarnishes the country’s reputation. He urged the Committee of Pro-Chancellors of State Universities in Nigeria (COPSUN) to join forces in “stemming the tide of irregular admissions” that threaten the legitimacy of Nigeria’s education system.

This revelation comes on the heels of a directive from the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education, mandating JAMB to “identify institutions engaged in irregular admissions.”

JAMB reiterated that all legitimate admissions must be processed through its Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), warning against fraudulent certifications that undermine the integrity of academic qualifications. As Oloyede emphasized, “Any admission whatsoever that is outside the CAPS, irrespective of the institution, is illegal.”
