Meta Shuts Down Rarara’s Facebook Account Amid Controversy Over Pro-Tinubu Song

Popular Hausa singer, Dauda Adamu, also known as Rarara, has had his Facebook account with over 1 million followers deleted after a mass report following the release of a song praising President Bola Tinubu.

The song, which came ahead of a planned nationwide protest over economic challenges, sparked outrage with lyrics like, “Tinubu has made Nigeria great.

Northerners have said goodbye to hunger, insecurity, and poverty.”

Rarara’s account was removed on Saturday, with some users calling for his other social media accounts to be taken down as well.

The singer has been a vocal supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was previously appointed National Director of Music for the Buhari 2019 Presidential Support Committee.

In a surprising turn, Rarara recently criticized former President Buhari for mismanaging the economy and national security, stating that the 100 days of Tinubu’s administration were better than Buhari’s eight years.

Despite not being appointed by the APC, Rarara’s songs demonstrate his unwavering support for President Tinubu.

The deletion of Rarara’s account raises questions about the boundaries of free speech and artistic expression on social media platforms.
