Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi’s Burial Set For September

The family of Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, the visionary designer of the Nigerian national flag, has announced an elaborate three-day burial ceremony to honor his legacy.

The festivities will commence on September 4, 2024, and conclude on September 6, 2024, in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.

In a heartfelt statement, Akinwumi Akinkunmi, Pa Taiwo’s son, expressed his family’s gratitude to the Federal Government for its condolence visit, led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed.

While appreciative of the government’s concern, the family eagerly awaits the fulfillment of promised support to ensure a befitting farewell for the national hero.

The burial ceremony will be a celebration of Pa Taiwo’s life and contributions to Nigeria’s identity.

The family has requested that the national flag be flown at half-mast during the burial, symbolizing the nation’s respect for his legacy.

The Oyo State government has also shown support, with members of the 7th Oyo State House of Assembly and the Chairman, Oyo State Advisory Council, Bolaji Ayorinde, playing key roles in the burial preparations.

As Nigeria bids farewell to Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, his family and the nation will come together to honor his memory and reflect on his enduring impact on the country’s identity.

The burial ceremony will be a testament to his legacy, and his contributions to Nigeria will continue to inspire future generations.
