Price Of Petrol Skyrockets In Kano

A severe fuel crisis has gripped Kano State, with petrol prices soaring to unprecedented heights, leaving motorists and commuters stranded.

The price of petrol has skyrocketed to between N900 and N950 per litre, a significant increase from the previous prices of N780 and N850 per litre.

This drastic price hike has had a ripple effect, with commercial tricycle operators increasing their fares by about 100% to mitigate the impact of the fuel shortage.

The situation has been exacerbated by the closure of most filling stations in Kano city, with only a few remaining operational.

These stations are overwhelmed by long queues of vehicles, as desperate motorists seek to purchase the scarce commodity.

The black market has also capitalized on the situation, with petrol being sold at exorbitant prices of between N1,100 and N1,200 per litre, depending on the location.

Motorists have expressed frustration and concern over the price hike, which has caused widespread hardship and disruption to daily life.

The situation is further complicated by the recent #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria# nationwide protest, which highlighted the country’s economic woes.

The Dangote refinery’s refute of marketers’ projection on petrol price has also added to the uncertainty surrounding the fuel crisis.

Efforts to contact the state Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Gana Girge, were unsuccessful, leaving many questions unanswered about the cause of the shortage and the measures being taken to address it.

As the situation continues to deteriorate, commuters and motorists are left to bear the brunt of the fuel crisis, with no end in sight.
