FG Vows To Address Escalating Cost Of Cooking Gas

The Federal Government has pledged to take decisive action to address the escalating cost of cooking gas, which has reached an all-time high of N1,300 per kilogramme in some areas. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, made this commitment on Monday, acknowledging the hardship caused by the price hike.

Ekpo announced plans to convene a meeting with regulators and gas producers to explore strategies for reducing the cost, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring affordability and availability of cooking gas.

He also highlighted the Decade of Gas Initiative, which aims to provide 1 million homes with access to clean cooking by 2030.

The government’s intervention comes as a relief to many Nigerians struggling with the rising cost of cooking gas.

The price increase has sparked widespread concern, with many calling for urgent action to address the situation.

As the government works to address the issue, beneficiaries of the Decade of Gas Initiative’s cylinder distribution program have been urged to make optimal use of the resources provided.

The program, which targets 250,000 cylinders annually, aims to promote the adoption of LPG as a cleaner, safer, and more environmentally friendly cooking option.

The Federal Government’s efforts to tackle the rising cooking gas prices demonstrate its commitment to the welfare of Nigerians, particularly in the face of economic challenges.

As the situation continues to unfold, citizens eagerly await tangible solutions to this pressing issue.
