Commercial Drivers, Motorcyclists Protest In Kwara State Over Hike In Fuel

In a dramatic turn of events, commercial activities in Ilorin, Kwara State, were brought to a standstill today as commercial vehicle, tricycle, and motorcycle operators took to the streets to protest the recent fuel price increase.

The protesters, who blocked major roads and disrupted vehicular movement, expressed their frustration with the fuel price hike, saying, “We are buying fuel at N1,200 per litre. We cannot get money to feed our family after fueling our vehicle with N1,200 per litre.”

The protesters called on President Tinubu to reverse the fuel price to N200, saying, “If he still wants Nigeria to exist.”

In response to the protest, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq directed the immediate deployment of buses to different parts of the metropolis to ease the movement of commuters.

The governor appealed to transporters and members of the public to exercise patience over the new fuel price hike, saying different government stakeholders are reviewing the situation with public good as a top priority.

The protest has highlighted the widespread discontent among Nigerians over the fuel price hike, which has led to increased transportation costs and hardship for many citizens.

As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is clear: the fuel price hike has sparked chaos in Kwara State, and the government must take swift action to address the concerns of the people.
