Anambra Commissioner, Wife Regained Freedom

In a dramatic turn of events, Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Mba, and his wife have been released from captivity, bringing an end to a harrowing kidnapping ordeal that began on Friday.

The couple was abducted by unknown gunmen along the Edo-Kogi Expressway while en route to Abuja to attend the wedding of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s daughter, Adaora.

Tragically, one of the commissioner’s aides lost their life in the kidnapping incident, which has sent shockwaves through the state.

The commissioner and his wife were traveling in a commercial Toyota Sienna bus with other passengers when they were ambushed by the kidnappers.

After spending a day in captivity, the couple was released on Saturday, with a top government official confirming the development.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed gratitude to God for the safe release of the commissioner and his wife, stating that “the state government will soon issue a statement on that.”

The kidnapping incident has sparked widespread concern about the rising cases of kidnapping in Anambra State, with residents and stakeholders expressing worry about the security situation.

The state government has yet to make an official statement on the matter, but the release of the commissioner and his wife brings a measure of relief to the affected families and the state at large.
