The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun announcing the results of the highly anticipated 2024 Edo State governorship election. As the results unfold, tensions are running high among the contenders and their supporters.
According to INEC’s real-time updates, here are the results from some local government areas:
Igueben Local Government Area recorded 54,549 registered voters, with 15,274 accredited voters.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered 5,907 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 8,470 votes, and the Labour Party (LP) trailed with 494 votes.
In Esan West Local Government Area, out of 113,067 registered voters, 25,702 were accredited. The APC polled 12,952 votes, PDP 11,004, and LP 342.

Uhunmwonde Local Government Area saw 92,169 registered voters, with 20,044 accredited. The APC secured 8,776 votes, PDP 9,339, and LP 769.
Owan West Local Government Area recorded 67,076 registered voters, with 24,311 accredited. The APC garnered 12,277 votes, PDP 11,284, and LP 201.
Ovia North East Local Government Area had 177,106 registered voters, with 32,441 accredited. The APC polled 13,225 votes, PDP 15,311, and LP 1,675.
Esan South-East Local Government Area saw 90,240 registered voters, with 23,390 accredited. The APC secured 8,398 votes, PDP 14,199, and LP 98.
Egor Local Government Area recorded 242,266 registered voters, with 35,463 accredited. The APC garnered 16,760 votes, PDP 14,658, and LP 1,966.

The Edo governorship election has been closely watched, with three main contenders vying for the top spot: Monday Okpebholo of the APC, Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, and Olumide Akpata of the LP.
