Nigeria Governors To Meet Today Over Minimum Wage

The governors representing Nigeria’s 36 states have arranged an urgent meeting scheduled for today, Wednesday, to deliberate on the proposed new minimum wage. This decision comes shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) put on hold the memo concerning the minimum wage on Tuesday.

It is noteworthy that the 36 governors had previously rejected the suggested N62,000 wage, expressing concerns that certain states would be compelled to borrow funds to meet the stipulated requirement.

As reported by Daily Trust, Halima Ahmed, the Acting Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), disclosed that the governors will gather in Abuja at 7 pm today, Wednesday, to address this pressing issue.
