The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged victorious in all 20 Local Government chairmanship seats in Bauchi State, according to results announced by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC).
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the results, describing them as a “blatant robbery” of the electorate’s rights and a “mockery of democracy.”
The APC has alleged numerous irregularities, including inadequate election materials, withheld sensitive materials and result sheets, and votes allocated to the PDP.
The party has demanded the immediate resignation of BASIEC Chairman Ahmad Makama and called for the cancellation of the local government elections.

In contrast, some opposition parties secured councillor seats, with the Young Progressive Party and African Action Congress winning seats in Dass and Darazo Local Government Areas, respectively.
The Labour Party also received the highest votes in the Lusa Ward of Bogoro Local Government Area, despite not fielding a candidate.
The APC’s rejection of the results and allegations of irregularities have raised concerns about the credibility of the electoral process in Bauchi State.
The situation highlights the need for transparency, fairness, and accountability in elections to ensure the democratic rights of citizens are protected.
