Rainfall In Zamfara Destroys Properties, Renders Residents Homeless

Following prolonged heavy rainfall in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, numerous individuals have been displaced, with reports indicating the collapse of several residences. Flooding in the Genge Maigemu area of Tudun Wada has obstructed both pedestrian and vehicular movement. Residents have been observed salvaging their possessions from homes affected by the downpour, enduring the loss of valuable items in the process.

“We were unable to rest as the rain commenced early, prompting us to hastily gather our salvageable belongings,” shared Mama Bilikisu.

In the aftermath of the calamity, Salisu Ibrahim, another impacted resident, expressed grief over the destruction of his dwelling and possessions. He lamented the additional burden of repairing his residence and replacing lost items amidst prevailing economic challenges. Concurrently, some locals have attributed the devastation to negligence, highlighting non-compliance with government construction regulations.

“Numerous structures were erected in waterlogged areas, exacerbating issues and leading to damages during the rainy season,” noted Musa, an engineer.
