A sudden and alarming food poisoning incident has struck the Singapore office of TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, leaving 57 employees hospitalized and many more affected.
The mysterious outbreak, which occurred on Tuesday, has prompted a swift and thorough investigation by health and food safety officials.
According to reports, around 60 employees experienced severe stomach upset, with symptoms of gastroenteritis, including abdominal pain and vomiting.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force responded promptly, dispatching 17 ambulances to the scene to provide emergency care.

ByteDance has expressed deep concern for the well-being of its employees, stating, “We take the health and safety of our employees very seriously and have taken immediate steps to support all affected employees, including working with emergency services to provide care.”
The company is cooperating fully with the investigation, working closely with the relevant authorities to determine the cause of the outbreak.
The Singapore Food Agency and the Ministry of Health have launched a joint investigation, emphasizing the importance of food operators adhering to strict food safety practices.
“Food operators must play their part by adhering to good food safety practices,” they stated.
“We will not hesitate to take enforcement action against errant food operators.”
As the investigation continues, ByteDance is working to identify the source of the food poisoning, which is believed to be linked to third-party caterers used by the company.
With the health and safety of its employees as its top priority, ByteDance is committed to ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
