Youth Groups Plan To Backout From Oct. 1st Protest

In a bold display of unity and patriotism, more than 60 Nigerian youth organizations have distanced themselves from the planned October 1 nationwide protest against President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Leaders of these organizations, representing millions of young Nigerians, vowed to promote peace and stability in the nation.

Duke Alamboye, President of the Nigeria Youth Organization, led the delegation that visited Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, in Abuja. Alamboye emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue, urging youths to explore available channels of engagement with the government.

“As young leaders and lovers of peace, we cannot afford to be misled into actions that may jeopardize our nation’s progress,” Alamboye said. “We are committed to sensitizing our fellow youths about the need to shun destructive protests and instead, embrace meaningful conversations.”

Dr. Otuaro commended the youth leaders for their stance, highlighting President Tinubu’s commitment to youth empowerment. “The President has demonstrated his dedication to the welfare of young Nigerians through various appointments and initiatives,” Otuaro noted.

The youth organizations, including the National Youth Congress, Arewa Youth Council, and Yoruba Youth Council, have planned a world press conference on September 23 to promote their message of unity and peaceful engagement.

By rejecting the October 1 protest, these young Nigerians are sending a powerful message: they will not be swayed by divisive agendas, but instead will work towards building a brighter future for their nation.
